Company Pedigree
Company Overview
AMD started out producing high quality logic chips (cloning Fairchild and National Semiconductor designs). AMD produced its first product in 1970. AMD started in logic chips and memory and moved into microprocessors with Intel clones and the 2901 bit-slice microprocessor. AMD signed a 10 year Second Source agreement with Intel in February of 1982, however, the road with Intel was rocky as competition became more intense.
